Woodbridge Town Ladies are back at home this weekend as they welcome in-form Capel Plough to the Homestyle UK Ground. The fixtures are coming thick and fast for the Peckers as they begin to catch up after a stop-start winter, and every point is crucial at this stage in the season. The visitors will provide a tricky test for a Woodbridge side that is looking to return to winning ways.
The Peckers fell to their second loss of the season last time out, as Needham Market Devs got the better of Woodbridge 3-2 after a 1-1 draw between the two sides the weekend before. Taking one point from a double header against another top side is frustrating, but both contests were close between the two and could’ve gone either way. Capel Plough meanwhile have won three of their last four, including a 0-4 win over Kesgrave Kestrels and a 7-1 against Brantham.
This will be the first meeting between Woodbridge and Capel this season after the reverse fixture was postponed earlier in the campaign. In the 24/25 season, the Peckers completed the league double over Sunday’s visitors, winning 5-0 at home before a 1-5 away victory. In fact, Capel Plough are looking to beat Woodbridge for the first time this weekend. The Woodpeckers will hope to maintain their unbeaten record against the away side on Sunday and claim a valuable three points.
Despite not getting the results, Woodbridge have continued their good scoring form, with Rhianna Kiwomya the standout player – finding the back of the net in each of the last three games. Sadie Jamieson will want to add to her total of fourteen so far this season, whilst defensively the centre-half partnership of Ager and Jacobs look to keep things tight.

The main threat for Capel Plough comes from M’Leah Wright, who has been clinical in front of goal this season with eight goals in nine matches – four of those coming in the last two games. Eboni Shepherd has also looked strong this campaign, and Woodbridge will be wary of the goalscoring prowess that Capel have showed in their recent fixtures.
A win for the Peckers could see them climb back into the top four, and with the top two sides facing off this weekend, it’s an opportunity for Woodbridge to close the gap to the frontrunners. If Capel Plough are to take the three points, they could overtake the Woodpeckers and go fifth – although Capel have played five more games than Woodbridge so far this season.
With eleven games left to play across the next two months, we need your support for every single match – it truly is appreciated and does make a difference. Recent fixtures haven’t gone our way, but a strong run to end the season would put the Peckers back up the sharp end of the table. And, with a cup final on 17th May, silverware is a real possibility for the Ladies this season. Let’s go again and get behind Ash, Nat and the team for this weekend and as always, UP THE PECKERS!
