Woodbridge Town Ladies are in league action for the final time this season, as they travel to take on Stowupland Falcons Women this weekend. This fixture was postponed twice earlier in the season due to a frozen pitch, presenting the Peckers with a straight shootout for fourth place to end the SGWFL Premiership season. Momentum is key for Woodbridge, as they look to end the campaign in style and build confidence before the League Cup Final next Sunday.
It’s another quick turnaround for the Woodpeckers, who were in action on Thursday night as they beat Bacton United 1-5 away from home. A strong performance from Woodbridge saw them dominate the second half, with Rhianna Kiwomya scoring a hat-trick to guide the Peckers to victory.
Stowupland have been in great form to end the season, winning five of their last six games - the only loss coming against second-placed Needham Market Devs. Back-to-back 2-1 victories at home to Halesworth Town and Ramsey & Mistley have put the Falcons back into the hunt for a top four finish, as they look to sign off the season with three wins on the bounce.
The two sides have met once so far this season, with Woodbridge edging out this weekend’s hosts in a very tight contest. An early Stowupland Falcons goal was cancelled out by Lola Beaumont’s equaliser, before Rhianna Kiwomya scored late on to seal the victory for the Peckers. Another tight encounter is expected on Sunday between these two strong teams, demonstrated by the two point gap between them in the table.
Looking at key players in this clash, Stowupland captain Clare Bevan has had a very decent season, scoring seven goals in the league so far. Top Goalscorer for the Falcons, Laura Brame, has been consistently strong as of late - most notably netting a hat-trick against Capel Plough last month. The forward is now on a respectable nine goals for the campaign.

Woodbridge’s frontline has been in red-hot form this season, with Sadie Jamieson leading the top goalscorers charts with eighteen goals in nineteen games. Rhianna Kiwomya’s hat-trick against Bacton puts her on ten goals for the season, after a brilliant 2026 for the forward. With only one clean sheet in their last five, the Peckers will hope to shut out Stowupland today and improve the defensive record.
A win for the Falcons would see them claim fourth place, and potentially jump ahead of AFC Kesgrave, who still have four fixtures to be determined. If Woodbridge take the three points, they would jump ahead of Stowupland securing a top four finish, with the Kesgrave fixture still to be handed any result. This game really is a winner-takes-all clash.
Your support this season for the Ladies has been incredible, and although some elements of the campaign haven’t gone our way, it’s been a positive season for the Peckers. Let’s end the league campaign on a high, and continue to build momentum for the Cup Final next Sunday. Thank you all once again, and as always, UP THE PECKERS!
