Woodbridge Town defending vs Ramsey & Mistley - 26/10/25

Woodbridge Town Ladies are on the road for Friday night action, as they travel to take on SGWFL Premiership league leaders AFC Sudbury Women Reserves. The Peckers are looking to return to winning ways away from home against the table toppers who have been formidable this season. Woodbridge will be hoping to halt the runaway leaders in their tracks by taking the victory in tomorrow night’s clash.

AFC Sudbury Reserves have been incredibly strong this campaign, with twelve wins out of thirteen and yet to lose a single game in all competitions. The hosts are yet to play in April, but their March fixtures saw 1-2 and 9-0 wins backed up by a 4-2 victory over 2nd placed Needham Market Devs. They are currently on a sixteen-game winning streak, with Woodbridge being the most recent side to take points away from the league leaders (a 2-2 draw at the Homestyle UK Ground on the opening day of the season).

It’s not been easy for the Peckers as of late, with difficult fixtures seeing them only take one win from their last six games. However, that run did include a 1-1 draw with Needham Market Devs and a 2-2 stalemate with AFC Kesgrave last time out, who sit 2nd and 3rd in the table respectively. Dropping points to sides below them in the table has seen Woodbridge lose ground to the top three, but the Woodpeckers still have plenty of games to catch back up.

As mentioned above, the sides have already met once this season, where despite taking a two goal lead, Woodbridge were pegged back to a 2-2 draw against Friday’s hosts. In what was a game of two halves, both teams represented their ability to cause the other side problems. AFC Sudbury Reserves have the momentum, but the Peckers have the quality to challenge the side who have dominated the league this season.

Even though they’ve struggled to get wins over the line, Woodbridge’s scoring form is still very strong. Sadie Jamieson scored her 17th of the season against Brantham last Tuesday, whilst Rhianna Kiwomya netted her 5th goal of 2026 in the draw to AFC Kesgrave on Sunday. The return of key players will also be a boost to the Peckers, who will need a strong squad performance in this game.

AFC Sudbury Reserves also have an incredible record in front of goal, with seventy-two goals scored across seventeen games in all competitions! The table toppers have scored six or more goals in seven different games this campaign. Olivia Clennell leads the goalscoring charts for Sudbury with fourteen to her name, followed closely by Joy Hughes, who has thirteen in just eight games.

This clash comes as a game in hand for both sides, presenting a great chance to gain on the sides around them. A win for AFC Sudbury would put them seven points clear and almost out of sight at the top of the table. If Woodbridge take the three points, they would close the gap to AFC Kesgrave to seven points, with at least one game in hand on the sides around them.

Thank you to everyone who has got behind the Ladies this season, it really is appreciated. If you can’t make it to Sudbury on Friday night, we look forward to welcoming you back home on Sunday, as the ladies face a quick turnaround to take on Kesgrave Kestrels at the Homestyle UK Ground. Let’s get behind the team for eight huge games as we close the season out and, as always, UP THE PECKERS!
