The last home game of the 25/26 season is here for Woodbridge Town as they welcome Lakenheath FC to the Homestyle UK Ground. It has been a very mixed season, but the Peckers look to sign out in style with this being their penultimate fixture of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division campaign. With Lakenheath in desperate need of a win to avoid the drop, expect this to be a good contest.
The Peckers have struggled as of late, losing four of their last five games. They most recently fell to a 3-0 defeat away at Ipswich Wanderers, although did pull off a stunning victory in their last home game - beating Great Yarmouth Town 3-2 with a last minute winner. Lakenheath come into this game on the back of three losses in a row, meaning their spot in the Premier Division next season is still not secured.
The only meeting between the two teams came back in November, as Woodbridge claimed a 1-2 victory on the road. Goals from Ash Blow and Connor Field on that day saw the Peckers come from behind to take the three points. Last season, the points were shared as Lakeneath took the win in their home game, before Woodbridge beat them 4-2 at the Homestyle UK Ground. They’ll be hoping to replicate that performance on Saturday!

Woodbridge will hope that their attackers will be in form and able to put the Lakenheath defence under pressure. Ash Blow is looking to add to his twelve goals so far this season, and the return of Kye Webb on Tuesday was a positive one for the Peckers. Laurie Higgs is not expected to be involved after he came off injured in that midweek fixture, but the Woodpeckers know they have the quality to give the home fans something to cheer about this weekend.
Lakenheath will be ready and raring to go for this one, as they know the importance of three points this weekend. They’ll look to reproduce the performance against Walsham-Le-Willows from a few weeks ago, where goals from Shaun Avis and Tobi Lawal fired the Heath to a big three points. With the defensive records of both sides not looking strong, this could be quite a high-scoring affair.
A win for Woodbridge this weekend could see them jump into the top ten, sitting level with Dereham Town in 10th. And, as the Peckers travel to Dereham on the final day, the chance of a top ten finish is still in their hands. Three points for Lakenheath would put them ahead of Heacham, and seven points clear of Hadleigh United who sit bottom.
We appreciate every single one of you that has got behind the side over what has been a season of highs and lows. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible for the men’s last home game of the season - one that hopefully we can enjoy and claim a strong win. Let’s get behind the lads for the final time at home this campaign and, as always, UP THE PECKERS!
