Woodbridge Town Football Club can confirm Liam Scopes has been appointed as first-team manager ahead of the 2026-27 season.
His appointment reflects the Club’s belief in his experience in local football, coaching quality and his character which make him the perfect candidate to lead this club forward. Liam's experience as first team manager of Hadleigh United as well as his playing experience demonstrate his suitability for this role.
Liam is also a familiar face with the Woodbridge Town faithful, making over 300 appearances in 16 years as a Woodbridge Town player.
On his appointment, Liam said, "I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed manager of Woodbridge Town FC.

"This club is very close to my heart, having spent many years here as a player, so it’s a real honour to return in this role. I know what this club means to the players, supporters and wider community, and I’m excited to get started.
"The club has been working extremely hard behind the scenes to establish a strong foundation and I’m looking forward to working hard with everyone involved to help move the club forward and create plenty of positive memories together."
On his appointment, our Director of Football, Caulay Howell, stated, "Liam is a familiar and well-known figure at the football club, both personally and on the pitch, having represented Woodbridge Town for a number of years during his playing career.

"Throughout our discussions, it became clear he was the right person for the role with his ambitions, vision, and plans aligning closely with those of the club.
"His strong connection to Woodbridge Town, along with his understanding of the club’s values and ambitions, gives us great confidence as we look ahead to the new season. While challenges lie ahead, we are excited for the future and believe Liam has the leadership and commitment to build on the strong foundations already in place.
"We look forward to working with Liam and hope this marks the beginning of a successful and exciting tenure at Woodbridge Town."
The club would also like to extend it's thanks to Glenn “Snelly” Snell for stepping in and taking training over the past few weeks. His support has enabled everyone involved to focus fully on the appointment of the first team manager without distraction, and that level of commitment behind the scenes makes a real difference to the club. Thanks for your help, Snelly!
