PREVIEW: Woodbridge Town vs Heacham FC

Woodbridge Town look to bounce back from last week’s disappointing defeat as they welcome Heacham FC for the first home game of the year. This is a rearranged fixture from earlier in the season, which was abandoned at half-time due to a floodlight failure. With both sides towards the bottom of the table, this game presents itself as a great opportunity for one of these two teams to pick up a much-needed victory.

It’s been a difficult last few weeks for the lads, who have only picked up one win in five - the latest two results being particularly disappointing as a 0-2 derby day defeat was followed by a 5-0 loss away at Mulbarton Wanderers. Woodbridge can take some confidence into this game from the reverse fixture however, as they beat the Magpies 1-3 back in September. It’s been a similarly tough patch for Heacham, who before last weekend were winless in 9 games. But, a hard-fought 2-3 victory in their most recent match against Fakenham Town will give the travelling side confidence going into tomorrow’s clash.

The Peckers haven’t had a great time off the pitch either, as it was announced on Tuesday that defender Kris Rose has left the club to return to Ipswich Wanderers. As a valued member of the starting XI departs, it presents an opportunity for others to step up and replace what Rose offered the side. Looking further up the pitch, Woodbridge will hope that top scorer Ash Blow can add to his 11 goals this season, and overall make sure the Peckers don’t make it 3 games without finding the back of the net. Jake Poore will be who the away side turn to, as despite an overall struggle in front of goal for Heacham this season, Poore has still managed a very respectable total of 7 goals.

With both sides having quite poor defensive records, goals are expected in what could be a very important game of football. Due to the floodlight failure earlier in the season, this fixture will be “Pay what you wish” for both home and away supporters, so make sure to get down to the Homestyle UK Ground and show your support for the lads! We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible in 2026, so let’s get behind the team and, as always, UP THE PECKERS!
