Woodbridge Town are looking for back-to-back wins this weekend as they welcome Hadleigh United to the Homestyle UK Ground. The Peckers will hope to replicate the performance against Walsham Le Willows and build momentum through the second half of the campaign. These two sides have produced some thrillers over the years, so expect another classic this Saturday.
The trip to Hadleigh back in October was a good one for the Peckers, as they ran out 3-6 winners in an eventful encounter. I’m sure a lot of Woodbridge fans will remember the incredible long-range lob from Ablitt to end the scoring show in that match. The Brettsiders will know they need to be stronger defensively in this game if they want to stand any chance of denying the Peckers from victory. If the lads do beat the visitors on Saturday, it would make it another season where Woodbridge have remained unbeaten against Hadleigh.
Last weekend saw the Peckers claim an important win away against Walsham Le Willows, after what had been a difficult winter run. A big 3 points that also saw Woodbridge climb above both Stowmarket Town and Ipswich Wanderers in the table. This Saturday presents another opportunity to jump further up the table, against opposition in Hadleigh who haven’t won a game since the first weekend of November. The Brettsiders, however, did manage to take a point off Haverhill Rovers last time out, showing that their results don’t necessarily demonstrate their quality.
Woodbridge’s form in front of goal hasn’t let up this season, and they’ll hope to replicate the display from the reverse fixture. Connor Field scored on his return to the XI against Walsham, in a game that also saw Liam Ablitt net a superb free-kick. Laurie Higgs also bagged his first official senior goal for the Peckers, after his strike in the abandonment vs Heacham didn’t count. Top scorer Ash Blow will also hope to add to his 2 goals against Hadleigh already this season. The main threat for the Brettsiders will come through Curtis Harvey, who sits on 12 goals in all competitions this campaign - the only Hadleigh player to net more than 3 goals so far.
A victory on Saturday could see Woodbridge go as high as 9th in the league, and cement themselves in the top half. It would be a testament to the effort and hard work of all involved to not only get the season back on track, but to finish in a very positive position. As for Hadleigh United, 3 points would see them extend the gap over the sides at the bottom of the table, and provide a big boost for the rest of the season.
We hope to see as many of you as possible on Saturday for our first home game of 2026 - hopefully the fog stays away and this weekend will be another enjoyable watch for all supporters. Thank you for all your support this season, and keep backing the lads through every single minute - it is very much appreciated. UP THE PECKERS!
