Great Yarmouth Town are the visitors to the Homestyle UK Ground this weekend as Woodbridge Town welcome The Bloaters for their penultimate home game of the season. With only four games left of their 25/26 campaign, every point is valuable as the Woodpeckers look to finish as high as possible in the table. However, promotion hopefuls Great Yarmouth need wins now more than ever, and will look to put the Peckers to the sword on Saturday.
It was a very poor performance last time out for Woodbridge, as they were beaten 0-3 by relegation-threatened Heacham FC. The Peckers have now lost four on the bounce, conceding thirteen goals across those defeats. And, with three of the last four fixtures against top ten opposition, the side knows that the level needs to be raised. Great Yarmouth Town have enjoyed a similarly difficult run with only one win in their last five, which has seen them drop down to 8th and sit three points outside the play-offs.
The only other meeting between the sides this season came back in November, where after racing into a 1-3 lead, Woodbridge took a point against the Bloaters in a 3-3 draw. This is a fixture that has never favoured the Peckers, with the three other meetings seeing two draws and one victory for Great Yarmouth. Hopefully Woodbridge can finally get one over the visitors this weekend.

Woodbridge know that the performances recently haven’t been good enough, and the players will want to raise their game for this one. Mark Ray has been in good touch with three goals in four games, whilst Taylor Southgate will play an important role dictating the midfield. Great Yarmouth’s main threat will come from Jake Spooner, who has scored sixteen goals this season - including one against Woodbridge earlier in the campaign.
With not many games left of the season, every result has a big impact on the table. A win for the Peckers could see them climb into the top ten, and go a point ahead of Dereham Town. If Great Yarmouth take the three points, they could fire themselves into sixth, and sit outside the top five on goal difference.
This match is also in support of the charity EACH. They provide care for children and support for families. They are raising money to extend The Treehouse, a facility with overnight accommodation and specialist equipment. They will be collecting donations throughout the game. We can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve shown this season - it really is appreciated. It’s not been an easy campaign for the Peckers, but let’s get behind the lads for the final four games and hope to end on a positive note. Keep backing the side and, as always, UP THE PECKERS!
