Woodbridge Town return to Thurlow Nunn Premier Division action tonight as they travel to take on Kirkley & Pakefield. After a dramatic encounter between the two a few weeks ago, the Peckers look to complete the league double over the hosts this evening.
The Woodpeckers have had an entertaining start to the season, winning three and losing three from their opening six games in all competitions. Woodbridge have lost out to Dereham and Downham in the league, before beating Heacham and Lakenheath in the FA Cup and FA Vase respectively.
Last Friday saw the Peckers take on Felixstowe & Walton United in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, where the Seasiders took a narrow 0-1 victory. Woodbridge competed well with the Step 4 side, especially in the second half, and a similar performance tonight should be good enough to shut out the Royals.
Speaking of the hosts, Kirkley & Pakefield are still searching for their first win of the new campaign, having lost five and drawn one from their opening matches. Kirkley have lost out narrowly to Thetford and Downham in the last two fixtures, having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Little Oakley the week before.
Tonight presents a chance for the Royals to get their season up and running, in front of their home support and against a Woodbridge side that they pushed all the way a couple weeks ago. The Woodpeckers know what to expect from a well drilled side, and this evening should be another exciting matchup.

Promising performances
Despite a mixed set of results, the Peckers have looked more and more positive as each game comes. A solid display against Felixstowe, having progressed in both cup competitions shows the quality that this squad has.
Woodbridge’s top goalscorer so far this campaign is Mark Ray, who has hit the ground running to start this season with three goals in five games. Ryan Marsh has also come up with important strikes, scoring our opening goal of the campaign and netting a stoppage-time goal to beat Heacham.
New signings have impressed, with Jordan Matthews scoring against Kirkley on debut, and defender Billy Jordan delivering consistently throughout the opening games. Mackenzie Travis scored his first goal for the club against Heacham, having looked dangerous in pre-season.
Woodbridge will hope to make the strong performances count by winning tonight and completing the league double over Kirkley & Pakefield.
Previous meetings
The two sides met four weeks ago, where a 94th minute winner from Zach Gayfer saw Woodbridge take the three points in the second game of the season.
Last campaign, Woodbridge beat Kirkley at home 3-1, having lost 2-0 on the road last August. The 24/25 season saw the two teams draw 1-1 at the Homestyle UK Ground, before a dazzling display saw the Peckers win 2-5 away from home.
The Woodpeckers have a strong recent record against the Royals - something they will hope to maintain tonight.
