PREVIEW: Cornard United vs Woodbridge Town

Woodbridge are on the road tomorrow for the last game before Christmas as we travel to Cornard United. The Ards have become familiar opposition this season, as these two sides have already met 3 times this campaign - Woodbridge were victorious in the league game at home and the FA Cup replay earlier in the year.
A difficult last couple weeks ended our previous 6-game unbeaten run, as back-to-back losses to Thetford and Fakenham in December have seen us slip to 13th in the league. There will be optimism going into this one for Woodbridge though, not only due to the strong record against the hosts this season, but the fact Cornard themselves have struggled of late. Three 4-0 losses in a row for the Ards has knocked them down to 16th in the table, with the joint-worst goal difference in the division.
Expect action in this one, as the 3 previous games saw 12 goals scored between the two sides. Woodbridge’s top scorer Ash Blow will be hoping to up his tally of 10 goals this season, and add to the two goals he’s already netted against the Ards this campaign. Another threat in front of goal will be Kye Webb, who has been a thorn in the side of every opposition he has faced this season. The threat from the Woodbridge frontline has the potential to spell another long afternoon for the Ards. At the other end of the pitch, it’s now been 4 games since the Peckers last kept a clean sheet, which coincidentally came in the 2-0 win against Cornard at the start of November. If Woodbridge can deliver a similar performance to that day, it should be a positive afternoon for the Peckers!
Both sides will be hoping to pick up their first victories of December, and bring an early Christmas present to their supporters. With the local derby against Ipswich Wanderers on the horizon, a good win tomorrow for Woodbridge would be a big boost going into that clash.
