Woodbridge Town welcome Kirkley & Pakefield to the Homestyle UK Ground for the Peckers’ first home game of the new season. After a positive yet point-less performance on the opening day, Woodbridge will want to get up and running on Tuesday evening.
The Woodpeckers fell to a 3-2 defeat away at Dereham, with the Magpies holding on to deny Liam Scopes a victory in his first game in charge. Despite taking the lead, Woodbridge couldn’t find a way to respond after three first half goals from the hosts. For the full match report from Saturday’s loss, click here.
The visitors, Kirkley & Pakefield, weren’t in action at the weekend, and will hope to kick off their season with a win on the road. After finishing 14th last campaign, the Royals will want to mount a stronger run this time around and break into the top half for the first time since the 21/22 season.

Our opposition
As previously mentioned, this clash kicks off Kirkley & Pakefield’s 26/27 season. Under new head coach Declan McAvoy, the Royals are looking to better their last campaign, where they finished only nine points above the relegation zone.
The visitors have recruited a mix of young talents alongside Step 5 experienced players to strengthen their squad coming into this year. Pre-season results were mixed for Kirkley, but they showed promising signs against some stronger opposition.

Woodbridge have won two of the last five meetings between the two sides, with the visitors also winning two, as well as one draw. The most recent matchup was a victory for the Peckers back in March, as Mark Ray netted on his return to fire us to an important three points.
Positive Peckers
The Woodpeckers will come into this clash with a strong belief of taking something away from it, after narrowly missing out on Saturday. There were plenty of positive performances from players alongside promising moves, which showed the potential of this squad.

Mark Ray kicked off his campaign with a goal, as the Woodbridge striker looks to continue his good form from the back end of last season. New signing Billy Jordan picked up an assist for a brilliant ball in behind, as well as putting in a solid defensive showing.
If Woodbridge can match the intensity and work rate from the weekend, they’ll have a great shot at taking something from this game.
