Woodbridge Town are back on the road for the first game of 2026, as the lads make the trip up to Harleston Town to kick off the new year. The home fixture against Harleston was the game of the season so far, as the Peckers came from 1-3 down to win the match 4-3 - a 90+5 minute winner from former player Kubi Kussan completing the comeback. At the time of that game, the two sides were close in the table - Harleston being sat in 13th with Woodbridge in 14th. Now, whilst the Peckers remain in 14th position, the hosts have put together a great run of form to find themselves deep into the top half in 8th. It feels the lads will need to raise their level from recent games in order to beat Harleston in this one.
Woodbridge will be hoping to kick the new year off with a victory, and get back on track after a difficult December saw the Peckers only pick up 3 points in 4 games. A reaction is expected from players and fans alike after a disappointing performance in the local derby last weekend against Ipswich Wanderers. As previously mentioned, Harleston Town have been on a brilliant run to end the year, only losing two of their last 10 matches in the league. The form table favours the hosts, but a new year presents a new opportunity for a good run to start for the Peckers.
The same individuals will provide the threat for Woodbridge, with Ash Blow and Kye Webb both scoring against Harleston in the reverse fixture back in October. Defensively, despite strong performances from Hurst in net, the Peckers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 6 games. This record will be inviting for Harleston’s frontline, and top scorer Joshua Durham will fancy himself to bag a goal against Woodbridge for the second time this season. It’ll need to be a solid and secure display from the travelling Peckers if they want to keep the hosts quiet and come away with the three points.
The lads will be the first to tell you that last week wasn’t good enough, and that everyone wants to bounce back with a good performance this weekend. 2026 brings new opportunities for Woodbridge, and a big second half of the season could see us ending the campaign in a very strong position. Thank you for your continued support through the highs and the lows, and let’s get behind the lads for the rest of the season! UP THE PECKERS!
