Bereavement of John Beecroft

It was great sadness that the entire Woodbridge Town Club heard of the passing of our former Club Chairman and Treasurer, John Beecroft.

John had bravely fought illness over the last couple of years and passed away in the care of St Elizabeth Hospice, last Friday in Ipswich.

As a mark of respect, and in tribute to John, there will be a minute's silence before the First Team game at Nottcutts Park against Ipswich Wanderers, this Friday, December 2nd.

Beecroft had been involved in Football long before joining Woodbridge Town, serving as a Coach at both the Norwich Academy and the Suffolk FA.

For many years, John, managed the WTFC U18 Eastern Alliance Junior team and after being Chairman of the Youth section for 16 years moved on to replace Keith Dixon as Club Chair and Treasurer in 2009.

During his tenure he saw the club through a turbulent decade and some difficult financial decisions, ultimately resulting in the club being relegated to the Eastern Counties First Division, but through his astute financial controls and generosity, the club recovered and soon returned to the Premier division and won the Suffolk Senior Cup (2017).

All at the club extend sincere condolences to John's family and thank him for his service to the club.

Thankyou John and may you rest in peace.
