.It’s been a good month for the Under 13s; we were certainly due one after last season’s struggles and then the loss of coach Chris McShane. But management/coaching duo Gary Cope and Sue Truman stepped in to fill the breach, and their hard work has been rewarded with some great results. First match against St John’s ended 0-0, Woodbridge raining shots on the opposition goal without managing to score, but since then we’ve had three League wins, with 10 scored and only one conceded.

But the highlight so far was definitely last Saturday’s 5-1 Cup win against Division 1 opponents Kirton Kestrels, a victory all the more remarkable in view of the fact that several of our team had played in two school matches and taken part in a charity walk in the previous three days. It’s a schedule from which Premiership players would need a fortnight in the Bahamas to recover. But tired legs or not, and despite falling behind early in the game, Woodbridge worked hard, kept their concentration and slowly drew the sting from Kirton’s skilful attacks. Hats off to Jake Goddard and Daniel Stevens for a hat-trick and a brace of goals, but credit must go to the whole team, the result a real testament to their determination and stamina.
