UNDER 8'S OFF TO A GOOD START

Woodbridge Town under the watchful eye of their new coach Darren Follett paraded for photographs then put in a very good performance considering it was their first game together.

The game started with both teams having a lot of the ball but with no end product Woodbridge had the first chance of the game when Adam took the ball and went on a run and then lost control and the ball fell to Aiden who could not get a shot away with everyone screaming for the team to shoot. Woodbridge continued to have a lot of the ball but on numerous occasions they did not shoot to test the goalkeeper who was untested, there was always the chance that because most of the team were pushing so hard to get a goal that Cliff Lane could breakaway and that is what they did but again there was no end product and Alexander in goal did not have to make a save due to good tackling from Woodbridge, the first half came to a close with both keepers hardly having any work to do.

In the second half it was so different and Woodbridge made the breakthrough when Cliff Lane were exposed at the back by the pace and skill of Blades who passed to Cooper who from close range slotted past the keeper, 1-0 the lead did not last long as Cliff Lane who had a defender who was caught shaving before the game started to take control and his power was a difference he had a few shots at goal but Alexander only had to make one save even after all that pressure, but then Alexander took a goal kick and it went straight to the Cliff Lane striker who shot from far out to an empty net 1-1, with the game drawing to a close the very tricky Blades took control of the game and was a constent menace decided to take the ball down the wing and then got to the bye line and sent in a cross which struck the defenders hand and in the last minute Woodbridge were awarded a penalty, Blades Cooley slotted the ball past the keeper 2-1 the referee played an extra minute but Woodbridge held on for a deserved first victory.
