The management were left to ponder whether they were disappointed not to have won this game or thankful in the end to have not lost, such was the strange way this game panned out.
.
On a difficult bumpy surface Woodbridge made a tentative start allowing our hosts the better of the opening stages although the side should take some credit for trying to play with good build ups rather than resorting to just balls over the top.

It was from such a move from our hosts though that brought about their first opportunity as their dangerous front man Cole showed his pace to outstrip our defence but his centred cutback was fired straight at Beard. It was an approach that Debenham tried time and time again but in the main Blackman and Barton dealt with these comfortably enough. Slowly but surely our measured football was getting us into some good areas with Smy going close twice and Barton shooting wide following a corner whipped in by Roots. Debenham should have taken the lead on 20minutes but shot wide with the goal at their mercy and at the other end a great Baillie through ball released Seaman whose cut back was behind the run of Baldry instead of infront of him and within seconds rather than being ahead we found ourselves behind. Inevitably it was Cole that broke the deadlock as he cut in from the left leaving 2 players in his wake before calmly slotting past Beard but if anything this helped us out giving us the need for a response which duly came. For the remainder of the half we pressured Debenham back and after Acland had flashed a shot wide, other chances also fell to Smy and Seaman. The latter was also denied by a last ditch tackle after he had again been released in the right channel by another exquisite through ball from the midfield but our reward came with Acland finishing in the top left hand corner via a deflection after some good work down the left. We were thankful in the last minute though to the bar when Debenham headed one onto the top of it following a free-kick down the right but it was a half where Debenham shaded the first part of it with Woodbridge finishing the stronger.

This momentum was maintained in the second half and it was a real shame that in the first 20 minutes when we controlled the tempo and created chances that we did not take the lead as we would have probably gone onto the win the game. Chances fell to Baldry, Smy, Seaman, Baillie and Acland in that opening spell where some of our play was great to see using the full width of the pitch and even 2 great whipped in corners where they just needed a touch to go over the line. However such is football Beard had to be alert in a one-on-one situation to keep it level and although we also had further chances in the later stages of the game, Debenham will look to 2 great chances which they should have taken to win the game which included a glaring miss under our crossbar from a couple of yards out. Right at the death another good Woodbridge move involing Hammond and Baillie saw the ball drop for Baldry but his effort flashed wide and honours were even. Woodbridge will look to an improved second half display but not gaining their reward when they had control and Debenham no doubt looking back on those 2 good late chances to have won the game themselves.

Beard, Cage (Culf), Hammond, Bailie, Blackman, Barton, Seaman, Acland (Jackson), Baldry, Smy, Roots (Smith).
