MATCH ANALYSIS

1st half - As soon as we started to land on the ball and pass it early and accurately to team-mates who had moved into space we looked the most dangerous team and played the better football. Crick floated one shot just wide, Mayhew nearly chipped the keeper and dangerous crosses from Rea, Crick & Churchill all caused problems but we couldn’t make a clear chance to compliment our approach play!
In contrast, Bury didn’t pass the ball around anywhere near as much despite two good individuals, but came closest when a cross came back off the post. Allinson made a couple of routine saves and one good tip-over, while Hutton, Rea & Salisbury (several times) made vital interventions or blocks!

2nd half - We never started the half with the same good habits, and with virtually no movement our tempo dropped! A fortunate own goal put Bury ahead & they saw the chance to get into us and take the game by the scruff of the neck – they did that & could have sewn the game up way before getting their 2nd goal on 78 minutes and were in no mood to go easy on as grabbing two more in the final minutes! Meanwhile we created absolutely nothing at the other end in the way of good football or goal-scoring opportunities!
