With 2 league fixture completed since the last update, WTFC Reserves have served up 2 very entertaining games against strong opposition in the form of Gt Yarmouth and Gorleston.

The Reserves were narrowly defeated 3-4 at home to Gt Yarmouth at home on 12th September, and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point.

Again, a very young side was competing against a mature and strong Gt Yarmouth, and with some of the WTFC U18s included in the squad, showing great potential with the likes of Carraccio, Smith, Baldry, Thicket and Barton, turned out a very spirited and mature display. Mayhew made his first appearance of the season after a long lay off through injury, and immediately made an impact with a goal on his return.

WTFC played some good football at times, moving the ball quickly through the midfield areas with Nicklin showing good form again.

Naivety in the defensive areas from set pieces was WTFC undoing, along with a penalty, but a positive performance none the less.

Gorleston away last Saturday presented the reserves with a very stiff challenge, with WTFC again going into the game with a young side.

Going in at half time 1-0 down, which could have been more but for some outstanding goalkeeping from Ross, some tactical changes were made at the break.

Woodbridge responded with 3 goals in 15 mins to take a 3-1 lead. A piece of quick thinking from a free kick by Mayhew, found Nicklin in space on the left, who fired in from 20 yards.
WTFC were now exploiting the flanks of Gorleston, and a fine pass from Mayhew found Seaman on the right, who used his pace and cut inside to slot the ball home for 2-1.

Again Mayhew found Seaman on the right, and using his pace again, crossed for the on running Baldry to fire in for 3-1.

Woodbridge were now firmly in control, but a dubious penalty decision on 70mins, brought Gorlestone back into the game at 3-2.

WTFC were again guilty of some poor defending after Gorleston equalised from a corner on 80mins to set up a tense finish.

With both sides now looking for the winner, WTFC left gaps at the back for Gorleston to clinch the tie 2 mins from time.

Again, a very good performance from a young WTFC who are getting stronger with each game, and will learn from mistakes.

Mayhew completed his first 90mins of the season, and again with good performances from Carraccio, Baldry, Barton, Mayhew, Smith, Seamen and Nicklin, the younger players can feel satisfied with themselves.

Squad-Gorleston
Ross, Balaam, Akland, Billington, Barton, Seamen, Mayhew, Nicklin, Hall, Baldry, Carraccio. Subs, Smith, (75mins) Tas.
