Throughout the game the visitors were the more dangerous team against a very inexperienced Woodbridge team, who could only name one substitute & they were well worth their 1-0 half-time lead, although somehow the goal didn’t arrive until the 43rd minute.
Halstead doubled their lead early in the 2nd half to sew up the victory & a penalty & a fourth goal near the end gave the score-line a more realistic look.
For Woodbridge, Tom Ross made two excellent saves, Ted Nichols gave an excellent performance after suffering a difficult time for the Under 18s on Thursday evening, while Carl Widdowson & James Baalham similarly put in improved showings from the loss at Walsham on Wednesday & Josh Mayhew gave a mature performance in the midfield.
The nearest Woodbridge came to a goal was a 1st half effort from Simon Smith, which came back off the post.
Team: Ross, Nichols, Baalham, Rea, Widdowson, Hammond, Mayhew, Smith, Hillyard, Tatum, Severy (Crick 67).
