As the 1st team will not had a 1st team fixture for 2 weeks by the time they play again, Marcus Garnham, Arran Sheppard, Mark Roper, Grant Monaghan & Paul Berry all took the opportunity to have 90 minutes.
Considering the strength of the starting line up, it was no surprise that Woodbridge were the dominant team throughout the game, but struggled to create clear chances throughout the 1st half & had to wait until after the break, when they kicked into the wind before the pressure was converted into goal.
Berry & then Monaghan each played terrific passes to set up JACK SEVERY for the opening goal on 53 minutes & within 5 minutes SEAN REA sprung the offside trap with a typical run from midfield to get onto Liam Hillyard’s pass & cleverly chip the ball over the stranded keeper. PAUL BERRY completed the scoring from the edge of the penalty area after Josh Mayhew had set him up.
Team: Garnham, Nichols, Monaghan, Toumi, Roper, Sheppard, Rea (Tatum 62), Baalham (Kempson 66), Hillyard, Berry & Severy (Mayhew 62)
Thanks to Felixstowe & Walton for accepting the situation where we needed to involve some of our 1st team regulars in this game!
Next Saturday, a more recognizable team will travel to Needham Market for Clive Stafford’s 1st game in charge of Woodbridge Town Reserves.
