Woodbridge Town 3 Wroxham 4 |
| Saturday 31st October 2009 |

|
An entertaining match saw
Woodbridge defeated again but only by an odd
goal in seven. |
|
Wroxham were denied a fourth minute opener after
Town keeper Adam Wilson was adjudged to have
been impeded whilst punching a corner into his
own net then Craig Stuart gave the Woodpeckers a
tenth minute lead, powerfully heading in from a
Ben Seaman corner. Woodbridge should have added
to their score in the first half, Dan Morphew's
shot stung the hands of visiting keeper Scott
Howie, Ben Seaman twice shot directly into
Howie's arms, whilst Marcus Josiah also missed
chances, his shot saved by Howie at the base of
the post before heading wide of the other
upright from a Seaman cross. In between, the
Yachtsmen had levelled the score on the half
hour, pacy winger Steve Spriggs appeared offside
but received the benefit of doubt from the
assistant referee to easily steer the ball past
Wilson.
Woodbridge failed to keep up the tempo in the
opening ten minutes of the second half and were
punished by two quick goals, Spriggs's shot from
a narrow angle deflected off Stuart into goal
and Ollie King increased the visitors lead to
3-1 after Town failed to clear a corner kick.
Instead of capitulating as in previous matches,
Town to their credit were level again within ten
minutes, Seaman delivering a stunning free kick
just under the angle of crossbar and post and
Morphew putting a deft finish to Josiah's
goalbound shot. Town surprisingly then replaced
Morphew and Josiah and their ascendancy waned,
Wroxham substitute Colin Wines recording the
final and decisive goal of the afternoon with a
75th minute header.
Adam Wilson, Seb Brimstead, Grant Monaghan,
Chris Pratt, Craig Stuart, Ben Miller, Tom
Trevivian, Dan Morphew (Ben Goddard 69), Marcus
Josiah (Jay Churchyard 78), Ben Seaman, Aaron Churchyard. |
