Woodbridge Town 1 Histon Reserves 2
Saturday 21st November 2009
A lapse of concentration in the final minute cost Woodbridge their first point of the season on home soil.

As Town made an unwise appeal for offside, Lee Smith scored a late winner for the Stutes only moments after Glenn Snell almost earned Woodbridge the win with a rasping drive that Histon keeper Sean Greygoose turned over his crossbar.

The best move of the match ended with Ben Seaman hitting the Histon upright after good combination between Sean Rea, Grant Monaghan and Ben Goddard but Histon's tall centre forward Craig Hammond gained the visitors a 1-0 half time advantage sending a 35th minute header beyond the reach of Town keeper Adam Wilson.

Seaman was prominent in every Woodbridge attack, his acute shot flashed across the face of the Histon goal and Greygoose had to stretch to tip over his goalbound strike but after 71 minutes his efforts were rewarded, pouncing on a moment of hesitancy in the Histon defence to level the score.

Although the Woodpeckers late defensive lapse presented the visitors their win, throughout the 90 minutes, Town's midfield too often gave the ball away cheaply and until the introduction of Snell had livened up proceedings, Seaman's striking partners had an ineffective and consequently costly afternoon.
