Woodbridge Town 1 Dereham Town 2 |

The Magpies took all 3 points
from the Woodpeckers nest stealing two early
second half goals. |
|
Woodbridge twice hit the woodwork
in a goalless opening half, Robbie Smythe forced
visiting keeper John Higgs to tip his 30 yard
effort onto the bar whilst in stoppage time
Glenn Snell looked sure to score but his effort
rebounded off the post and Ben Goddard's follow
up was cleared off the line. For the Magpies
Nick Howell had earlier brought Lewis Rhodes
into action, the Woodbridge keeper saving well
at his feet and Dan Beaumont's 40th minute free
kick also skimmed the Woodbridge crossbar.
Despite a bright start to the second half,
Woodbridge were two behind within twelve
minutes. Joel Brien was left with enough space
in the six yard box to sidestep his marker and
beat Rhodes at his near post and speedy full
back Oliver Willis powered through the Town
defence to set up top scorer Dan Beaumont for
his fourteenth goal of the season. Woodbridge
introduced Marcus Josiah and Josh Mayhew into
attack from the bench and looked more
threatening but after Josiah earned a 66th
minute penalty, Ben Seaman blazed the spot kick
over the bar. With four minutes remaining
Woodbridge pulled one back, Seaman shook off the
challenges of 3 Dereham defenders to deliver a
cross for Mayhew to convert first time, but
Woodbridge will look back on the spot kick miss
as a point which should have turned the game in
their favour.
