| Three goals in the opening 35 minutes all but settled the outcome, and the sending off of Matthew Musgrove just after the break meant there was no way back for the Premier Division
newboys. |
| Woodbridge were again without Paul Berry, who was nursing a stiff back, and brought Jon Bickers and Grant Monaghan into the back four at the expense of Aran Sheppard and Ben Miller following Saturday's defeat at CRC. |
| Walsham had started brightly with Marcus Garnham being forced to save low down to his right from Paul Musgrove's left-foot drive in the third minute. |
| Tony Boto, seeking a goal on his home league debut, saw his sixth minute header saved by Kevin
Bugg, but the assistant's flag was already raised. |
| Paul Hart then freed Ben Seaman down the left two minutes later and his cross was almost sliced into his own goal by Neil
Gooderham. However, the reprieve was shortlived as Woodbridge took the lead from the resultant corner by Seaman as Allicion Blake rose unchallenged to head home. |
| The lively Seaman played in Blake with 15 minutes gone and the striker cut in from the left but screwed his shot wide. |
Ten minutes later it was 2-0 when Aaron Churchyard burst forward from midfield into the box and held off a challenge before crossing to the far post for Seaman to head back across goal and just inside the post.
|
| Woodbridge all but put the game beyond the visitors in the 35th minute when Ben Garnham played the ball in behind the defence and Blake showed good close control to outwit a defender before firing past
Bugg. |
Seaman sent a right-footed rising drive over the bar two minutes later before Walsham striker Andrew Wood's jinking run was halted by a good tackle from Monaghan, while Blake turned and twisted before shooting side as the half came to a close.
|
Ben Garnham, who injured himself making a tackle that saw him booked just before the break, failed to reappear for the second half, with Tom Trevivian replacing him.
Just three minutes later Blake slid in to tackle Matthew Musgrove in the centre circle and the Walsham player reacted by kicking out and was shown a straight red. |
Boto then saw a close-range effort blocked on the line and Hart went wide after the ensuing goalmouth scramble, before Trevivian's low drive was smothered by
Bugg, who also saved a shot on the turn from Churchyard, and then got down low to his left to save from Seaman.
Luke Read, who replaced Seaman in the 74th minute, had an effort saved by Bugg as the game petered out, with Mark Roper and Jamie Scales rarely troubled in the centre of the home defence. |
