Tatum, a regular in the reserve team this
season, only joined the action as an 83rd minute
substitute, but stepped up to score the winning
penalty after a goal three minutes into injury
time denied Woodbridge an outright victory on
the night.Jon Bickers
tucked home a pass by Aaron Churchyard after 15
minutes to give Woodbridge the lead and Mark
Roper confidently scored from the spot five
minutes later after Nathan Clarke had upended
Craig Jennings.
Bickers and Churchyard both
headed wide as Woodbridge sought to put the
result beyond doubt early in the second period,
but Walsham pulled a goal back out of the blue
when Will Brown's looping header dropped just
inside the far post after 58 minutes.
Jennings shot just wide
following a superb long pass from defence by
Jamie Scales in the 78th minute and when Matt
Musgrove shot just over the bar in the 89th
minute it looked as though Woodbridge would go
through.
But in the third of five
minutes of time added on Brown ran through the
middle of the home defence to equalise and so
take the contest straight to penalties with no
extra time being played.
Although Bickers saw Kevin
Bugg save Woodbridge's first attempt, Scales,
Ben Garnham and Grant Monaghan all scored. With
Mark Wake and Brown being successful but Gary
Ross and Neil Gooderham failing to find the net,
Tatum converted Woodbridge's fifth kick to
confirm their semi-final spot.
