Town thrashed at Soham |

| Woodbridge were soundly thrashed at Julius Martin Lane as Soham Town Rangers inflicted upon us our heaviest Ridgeons Premier Division defeat ever. |
| . |
A dire performance from the whole team saw us consistently give away what little possession we enjoyed with misplaced passes whilst Soham's strikers had a field day against some inexplicable Town defending.
For a brief moment however the afternoon looked promising, as just as we did at Dereham and Wroxham we took an early lead, inflicting Soham's first home league goal against of the season after only two minutes when Paul Hart fired a low shot beyond the reach of Soham keeper Lea Jordan from 25 yards.
Our lead however was even shorter lived than we enjoyed at Wroxham as two minutes later Michael Simpson strolled into the Woodbridge penalty area, rounded Marcus Garnham and stroked the ball home. Charles Libam finished a fine passing move to give the hosts the lead after 12 minutes and on 20 minutes it was 3-1 as Darren Jimson left Ben Miller standing as he placed the ball home at the near post.
On the half hour it was the turn of Andy Furnell to score when unchallenged he trickled a shot across Marcus Garnham. Shortly before half time an unnecessarly high challenge saw Ben Miller limp off to take no further part in the game whilst the culprit Darren Jimson was perhaps fortunate not to do the same.
On the stroke of half time Woodbridge wasted an opportunity, when awarded a free kick in a central position on the edge of the Soham penalty area, unexplainably took it quickly, lost possession and Soham raced upfield to score thorough Paul Jones to end a miserable half for the Woodpeckers, which without several fine saves from Marcus Garnham could have seen the hosts lead by more.
Three minutes into the second half the misery continued as Furnell met a well placed free kick first time to volley home and shortly before the hour mark Libam raced through one on one to place his shot wide of Garnham. Five minutes later a sixth Soham player got his name on the scoresheet when Aaron Turner scored in the 65th and then the 83rd minute first stooping low to head in from Furnell's cross and finally repeating the task from Jimson's cross from the left.
All in all Woodbridge produced their worst display in recent memory when even the task of keeping the score down to a less embasrassing defecit seemed beyond us.
On a final note: whilst one or two of the players had the heart to apologise to the Woodbridge supporters, The supporters of Woodbridge Town put in an equally disappointing show as our travelling numbers, including officials were numbered in single figures. Comiserations to those stalwarts who made the trip.
Woodbridge Team M. Garnham, Toumi, Monaghan, Scales, Roper, Miller, Churchyard, Hart, Boto, Berry, O’Neill. Subs L. Read (B. Miller 42), A. Sheppard (I. Toumi 55), Jennings (T. Boto 72)
