Woodbridge Town 7 Grundisburgh 2
Tuesday 16th October 2007
A Paul Berry hat trick helped Woodbridge ensure their passage to the next round of the Churchman Cup against near neighbours and last season's SIL champions Grundisburgh.
Having suffered injury in Saturday's epic draw at Wroxham, Allicion Blake and Ben Seaman were replaced by Ismael Toumi and Liam Hillyard whilst Paul Berry returned to the starting line up with Lee O'Neill rested on the substitutes bench.
Spectators who had witnessed seven first half goals at Wroxham were treated to another six as Woodbridge dominated play before the break. Makeshift striker Paul Hart opened the scoring followed by two from Aaron Churchyard finishing first with his left foot then with his right. Paul Berry then scored twice, the first following a neat 1-2 with Liam Hillyard before Paul Hart scored his second of the game with a clinical finish on the stroke of half time.
Those expecting much of the same in the second period were disappointed as Woodbridge took their foot off the gas completely whilst Grundisburgh did the just the opposite 'winning' the second half 2-1 scoring their first from the penalty spot. Paul Berry however completed his hat trick to see Woodbridge 'comfortably' through to the next round to meet Walsham le Willows.
Team: M. Garnham, Sheppard, Monaghan, Scales, Roper, Miller, Churchyard, Toumi, Berry, Hart, Hillyard. Used Subs: O'Neill, Rea, Read.
